Lois Ella Rogers

It is with deep sadness that the family of Lois Ella Rogers announces her passing on March 8, 2009. Lois leaves to cherish her memory her children Neil (Laura) Rogers of Edmonton, Judy Lang (Brian Chamberlain) of Kelowna, and Kathy Groome of Edmonton; her grandchildren Geoff Lang of Kelowna, Nick, Travis and Stacey Groome of Edmonton, and Scott Rogers of Edmonton. Lois was predeceased by her husband Patrick in 1994.

Lois was born May 1, 1927 in Edson, Alberta and lived her early years in Styal and Edmonton. She moved with her parents to Vancouver at the age of 17. She and Pat became pen pals during the war and later worked together at Imperial Oil. They soon were married and Lois left Imperial Oil to start their family. Lois loved babies and loved being a mother. When her babies grew up, she and Pat spent many happy hours square dancing, where they met new friends and enjoyed some traveling. Their last “baby” was Mitzi, a miniature dachshund they loved dearly. After Pat passed away in 1994, Lois was heartbroken but continued to live in White Rock where she enjoyed playing cards and taking walks with her good friends at Ocean Bluff. In 2005 Lois moved to Sandalwood Retirement Resort in Kelowna to be closer to one of her daughters.

Lois’ family wishes to thank the caring staff at Sandalwood and Advocare and Tracey Maxfield of Community Care for their kind support during the past few years.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC on Thursday, March 12, 2009, at 1:00 pm with a reception to follow at Sandalwood Retirement Resort, 580 Yates Road.
