January 23, 1928 - March 16, 2021
Louis Raymond Bertrand of White Rock, B.C. Passed away peacefully in his home on March 16th 2021. He is survived by his wife Dianne, daughter Dominique, son Patrice (Lorna), five granddaughters, five great grandchildren, and their extended family.
Predeceased by first wife Renee and son Jean Claude.
Louis immigrated to Canada in 1954 from France with his first wife, Renee, and his young family. Their new life in Canada began in Montreal, but shortly moved west to Saskatchewan, and then to Prince George. They worked and loved and grew as a family in the northern climbs of BC, but eventually settled in White Rock in 1967.
Throughout that time Louis spent 40 years working hard in the forest industry. Even into his twilight years, Louis was known as a hard worker. He was wielding an axe, chopping firewood, far longer than most men.
Louis will be remembered and cherished for his humor, wit and charm. He was adored by his grandchildren and his great grandchildren. Louis was often the prankster, the playful and funny comrade to all. Young and old, he sparked smiles on faces and in our hearts. He was a gift to his family.
Louis loved to tinker. He was always getting into the guts of anything mechanical. His shop, the Bertrand garage, was a safe haven and a place of "working" and laughter to his sons and granddaughters. For Louis nothing was too difficult to fix. He left us with a few unfinished projects on his work bench. Thanks Dad!
He taught us to work hard, be honest, to laugh, and that the greatest treasure in this world is the value of family and friends.
It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye. Love you Dad.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
