April 13, 1945 - September 8, 2019
An incredible Wife, Mom, Grandma, Sister and Friend, passed away on September 8th, 2019 peacefully and surrounded by love and her family. Born April 13th, 1945, in Morecambe, England to Harold and Betty Castle, Madelaine moved with her parents to Burnaby, B.C when she was just a year old. Madelaine was known for her loving heart, gentle spirit, remarkable thoughtfulness, beautiful crafts and delicious baking. She truly made the world a better place and dedicated herself to her family everyday of her life. She took care of everyone around her and made sure they knew how much they were loved.
Madelaine will be profoundly missed and remembered every day by her loving husband Brian - who was her best friend for 49 years of marriage - her daughters Alison (Scott) and Amy (Ted), and her adored grandchildren Evan, Ellery, Beau, Neve and Avia. Thank you to the close friends and family who, in her final days, returned the care and love Madelaine always gave to them.
The nurses and staff at Irene Thomas Hospice in Ladner, B.C. can never be properly thanked for their exceptionally skilled and compassionate care of both Madelaine and her family over the last seven months of her life. They made a very sad and difficult time much easier and there are no adequate words to express our gratitude. Madelaine requested no formal service and instead wanted those around her to celebrate their own lives, families and loved ones.
Her family and close loved ones will celebrate together privately at a later date with many tears, laughter, a lifetime of memories and the spirit in which she loved us all. In her memory, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Delta Hospice Society would mean so much. As a final gift, please think of Madelaine whenever you see daffodils or find joy in your family and young children- they were always her favourite things.
