Margaret “Peggy” Ann Mills (Cole)
Mom was born June 2, 1928, in Wakaw, Saskatchewan, and after a long struggle with osteoporosis, died April 24,
2009. She was predeceased April 6, 2009 by her husband Mel, who remained her life-long friend. She is survived
by and will be greatly missed by, her sister Arlene Currie (Tom), her children, Patrice Morgan, Cherry Mills, Rick Mills(Diane Kavelaars), and Christine Albrecht (Wayne), and her
grandchildren, Danny Tuck, Natalie Morgan, Kirsten Mills and Thomas Mills.
Mom grew up in North Battleford, Sask., and moved to Saskatoon to attend Saskatoon City Hospital’s nursing
program from which she graduated in June 1950.
Although she gave up nursing to raise her four children, she enjoyed remaining active in the SCH Alumni
during that time. After the family moved to the west coast in 1970, Mom was first employed by, and then became
manager of a United Cigar Store. She still maintained contact with the SCH Alumni and was delighted to have
attended a reunion in Edmonton several years ago. She had a wish that she could see Saskatoon again, attend the
reunion in May, and visit other old friends she appreciated
having kept in contact with her through the years.
Mom loved sitting at the White Rock and Crescent Beach waterfronts (she had great memories of the cottage at
Jackfish Lake, Sask.) and various coffee patios with an iced coffee drink in hand on a lovely sunny day, watching
people. She did enjoy a really good parade.
We love you Mom and we miss you.
We would like to thank particularly the staff of the 4th Floor ICU at Peace Arch Hospital for all their care and compassion.
A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, May 8, 2009 at 3 p.m. at Victory Memorial Park, 14831 - 28 Ave.,
South Surrey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Osteoporosis Society, the SPCA, World Vision, or a charity of your choice.
