December 31, 2019
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rita Whyte at her home in White Rock on December 31, 2019. Rita was predeceased by her husband, Allan, and siblings, Cushie, Billy, Hughie and Donald. She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Nan Marie (Mike) and Allyn (Ryan), grandchildren, Braden, Christopher, Tyler, Robert and Benjamin and many other family members and close friends. Rita grew up in North Vancouver and moved to White Rock during her high school years. She graduated from Semiahmoo Secondary and completed her nursing training at St. Paul's Hospital. Rita was one of the first nurses hired to work in the ER by the White Rock Hospital when it opened in 1954. She worked in various positions at the hospital over her 40 year nursing career. Rita spent 27 happy years of retirement with her family.
A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers Rita asked that you do something nice for someone else in her memory. That is how she lived her life - always thinking of others and bringing kindness and happiness to those around her.
A wonderful wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt and friend. Always Remembered and Always in our Hearts.
