Passed peacefully in the company of family August 18. Lovingly remembered by her children, Austin, Mary (Marc),Greg (Anne),Catherine (Rod), grandchildren Michelle (Je ), Kate, Emma, Rebecca, Matthew and Anna and nieces/nephews John, Joan, Hillary, Michael, Brian and Angela (in England) and Margaret, Teresa,Mike and Martin (in Canada). Born July 24, 1929 in Wombwell, Yorkshire, England, Margaret became a Registered Nurse in 1953 and midwife before immigrating to Cobourg,Ontario with her sister Muriel in 1958. Marrying Capt. Tony Peterson in 1959, they built and settled in White Rock in 1961 raising a family of four and operating a maritime service business. Their gentle and amusing romance, the simple home with open table and cake in the oven remained a welcoming beacon for decades until Tony’s passing in 2007. Margaret’s lifelong dedication to the precious bonds of family over many miles and years will be cherished as was her service into parish and community life and the years of leadership in UNICEF. With unwavering ideals and epic determination Margaret always carried on. Her warm and wonderful smile and her love for all souls will carry on in our memories. The funeral mass will be 1:00 pm, August 23 at Good Shepherd in White Rock.
