October 22, 1940 - February 11, 2020
Born October 22, 1940 in Codesa, Alberta passed away peacefully on February 11, 2020 at her home in White Rock, British Columbia. Paulette grew up in Codesa, Alberta, where her father ran the local general store and her mother was a school teacher. Through the years, she would often talk fondly of her childhood adventures in Codesa and the love she had for her family and close community of friends.
After leaving Alberta, she moved to Vancouver and met her future husband Don Hayes and then worked as a bookkeeper for a local accountant. Paulette and Don went on to have two sons, Rex and Greg and spent many years living in Delta and Surrey, raising their family, enjoying life and working. After her separation from Don, she spent the years fine-tuning her bookkeeping skills and eventually started her own business. Paulette passionately loved her work as an accountant and maintained an active practice right up until she passed away.
Paulette will be remembered for her generous heart and gracious spirit. She was the stronghold in her family and the bond that kept us all together. When her grandchildren were born, they became the center of her life... Paulette became Nana to us all. Paulette's legacy of care and generosity for her family and her passion for hard work will live on through the love she instilled in her children and grandchildren.
Paulette will be fondly remembered by her son Rex, his wife Valerie and their two children Jacob and Michaela, and her son Greg, his wife Carley and their two children Lincoln and Evelyn. Paulette will also be sorely missed by her dear friend Katheryn Von Trebra. Paulette is survived by two sisters, Cecile Gartner and Jackie Desgagne. She was predeceased by her parents, Rene and Germaine Chamberland, her sister Rita Thibeault, her brother in-laws Gerry Thibeault, Harold Gartner and Orel Desgagne, and past husband Don Hayes.
The family will hold a memorial service in May to celebrate her life and pay tribute to her memory.
