A small firecracker, who loved life and lit up each encounter. She also loved nature. Could not pass a new plant or small animal creature without admiring its beauty. Steadfast in the love of her prairie roots in the warm and friendly city of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Marion is preceded in death by her parents and brother. Grieved by her children Julie and Leah, son-in-law Jeff Lamkin, grandchildren Jessica and Justin, sister and brother-in-law Rob and Cathy Lough, and beloved fur baby, Sami.
Marion was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Attended St. Mary's Catholic School where she met her life-long best friend, Marlene. Their escapades have traversed Canada, Bermuda, and Alaska. Both share in their love of nature and animals.
Marion spent years supporting her husband, Neil Burgess, as he attended graduate school and worked across various cities in Alberta and ultimately settled back in Winnipeg. Marion worked many years for Canada's North Warning System, pleased to spend time amongst the polar bears in Cambridge Bay.
Marion also lived in the small town of Gregory, South Dakota, USA, where she made dear friends and enjoyed yearly travels with the girls to the covered bridge festival. Most recently, the calling of family and warmer climates drew her to retirement in White Rock with regular travels to sunny south Texas.
Marion valued hard-work and relentlessly chased every interest. She was a gifted cook, crafter, and bridge player. Her one of-a-kind creations have warmed the hearts of many, from crocheting, needlepointing, sewing, quilting, and baking.
She was endearingly proud of her life-long blood donor status, saving countless others' lives through her unwavering generosity.
In remembrance and celebration of Marion, drink a strong black coffee, a single malt scotch - only the good stuff, read a book, admire a magnolia bloom, take care of nature, and give to others when you can.
