Marlene J. McCracken

McCracken: Marlene J. (nee Sheppard), wife, mother, grandmother, teacher and friend died suddenly at her Birch Bay, WA home on March 3, 2004 at age 71.

Marlene worked for many years teaching both children and teachers in early literacy throughout Canada, the U.S. and internationally. Best known for her dynamic workshops, development of the pocketchart and many teaching books including Spelling Through Phonics. She was a loving, energetic and magnetic person, wife, mother, aunt and friend and will be missed greatly at home and in the educational community. Marlene's bright light will shine on through the legacy of her work and family.

She is survived by her husband Robert, children Michael, David, Brad, Sam, Maggi Breckenridge, Wendy MacPherson and many grandchildren.

A celebration of Marlene's life was held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at Victory Memorial Park, 14831 - 28th Ave, Surrey, B.C. Donations in lieu of flowers to: Marlene J.
