Hedley, Mary Aline (Mollie) Passed away peacefully early Friday January 24, 2020
She was predeceased by her parents Norman and Sarah Hedley. She is survived by many close relatives and friends in Scotland, England, New Zealand, Australia and across Canada, and her special friend Ed Owens who spent many hours by her side.
Mollie was born in Princeton, BC, the only daughter of a pioneer family. She spent time growing up in a small cabin in Manning Park. After finishing high school Mollie went to Normal school and became an elementary school teacher. She loved teaching and watching her 'kids' over the years. Mollie taught all over BC, ending her career in Burnaby.
Music was a very important part of Mollie's life. Her mother taught her to play the piano and then there was no stopping her. She started "Melody Makers" choir and loved keeping up with the Orpheus Men's Choir wherever their travels took them.
Mollie was an avid photographer winning several photography contests. She could often be found out in her backyard tending her garden, or watching the many different birds at her bird feeder. When she wasn't outside, she was most likely travelling to visit friends and relatives in England, Australia and New Zealand. She thoroughly enjoyed a road trip across Canada a few years ago.
Mollie loved to laugh at herself and with others. Having fun was part of who she was. She always had a smile and she will be missed by many.
Cremation has taken place, a funeral service will take place on Mollie's birthday, Tuesday February 18 at 1:00 pm at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 1511 Roper Ave, White Rock, BC. Please wear something bright or yellow in honour of Mollie.
In lieu of flowers please spread extra light and joy in Mollie's memory.
