Mary Nora Whiteman (nee Griesbach), age 89 passed away at the Peace Arch Hospice in White Rock after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was predeceased by her husband Jack Whiteman and her 4 older siblings; John, Betty, Mona and Bill. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, her step children and grandchildren.
Mary was born in Blairmore, Alberta and grew up in British Columbia. Her marriage to Jack took them to Ontario for a period of time and following their return to B.C. they settled in White Rock.
Mary embarked on a career as a Cosmetician, working at Woodwards in Vancouver for many years. Her sense of style and beauty enveloped her until she passed away.
Mary was a loving, joyous, generous spirit who touched the lives and hearts of her family's and friends and all those she came in contact with.
Mary loved spending time walking on the beach and in her garden. She was enthusiastic about sharing her love for the arts with family and friends and hanging with all of the other members of The "Mermaids" Swim Club.
There will be a Celebration of Life at Beecher Place, on Crescent Beach on May 7, 2018 from 4:30 to 6 pm ( just in time for Happy Hour!).
