Maxine Naomi Watson passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on December 6, 2024. She lived her 92 years with joy, kindness, positive outlook and love for Jesus.

Maxine will be lovingly remembered by her brother, Ralph Pendleton, son Stuart Watson(Linda), daughters Wynn Thomsen(Kaj) and Wanda McCarley(Bruce), grandchildren Nolan Watson(Dana), Andrew Watson(Joanne), Katy Thomsen, Jesse Thomsen, McKenzie McCarley, Austin Daemon, 5 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She was welcomed into heaven by her husband Allan Watson, daughter Sherry Lynne Watson and son Terry Lee Watson.

Born in Swift Current Saskatchewan, she grew up on the Pendleton family homestead outside Swift Current. After attending the nearby Dunelm one-room elementary school, high school was completed in Swift Current.

In 1952 she married the love of her life, Allan Watson. Al's career took the family to Edmonton, Regina and Saskatoon before moving to Delta, BC in 1971.

Maxine worked as a ward clerk at Surrey Memorial Hospital for 20 years. After the passing of her husband in 1981, she took courses at night school with the goal of attending university. After retiring from Surrey Memorial Hospital in 1993, she attend the University of British Columbia on a full time basis, graduating in 1996 with a Bachelor of Social Work at the age of 64. She went on to work for the Ministry of Children and Families and also the Surrey School District focused on at risk children.

In 2000 she turned her attention to seniors in long-term care and became the inhouse social worker for Delta View Care Centre.

In 2012 she retired at the age of 80, to the relief of her family. Afterwards she spent time volunteering at her church, Saint John's Presbyterian in White Rock, and continued to touch the lives of many.

Maxine had a deep love for Jesus and spent time reading the scriptures and praying. She loved her family and cherished spending time with them whenever she could. Maxine always had time for her friends and had a way of lifting everyone around her up. Her love, faith and encouragement will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her. She is deeply missed.
