1942 – 2006
Mike was born August 2, 1942 and passed away peacefully at VGH on July 22, 2006.
Mike will be lovingly remembered by his wife Jo; stepchildren Carlene and Dale; his brother Bill; sisters Pat and Katie; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and good friends. Mike was born at West Point, N.Y. and as a young boy, moved with his family to Anchorage, Alaska.
He spent his teenage years in Fayetteville, N.C., and pursued a Science degree, graduating with a B.Sc., M.Sc. from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill Campus.
In the late 60s, Mike moved to Vancouver, B.C. to work with David Suzuki at UBC.
Mike’s passion for education led him to a successful teaching career at H.D. Stafford High School in Langley, B.C. He retired in 2005 to pursue his hobbies and spend more time with family and his beloved dogs, Skye and Jett. Mike’s kindness, love of life and sense of humour will be missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Mike’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at 2:00 pm at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre, 14831 – 28th Avenue, Surrey, B.C.
