Mildred Elsie (nee Lythgoe) MacKinnon

April 8, 2003

Daughter of Ernest and Mary Lythgoe (nee Isbister), fondly referred to as "Gypsie Millie" by family members, aged 95 years, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2003. Fond of saying "Old accountants never die, they just lose their balance" one of her passions was balancing the household accounts, which she has done since her marriage to her late husband of 63 years, Edmund MacKinnon, who predeceased her in 1993. In 1929, three columns in her synoptic were each dedicated to a family member; Mil, Ed, and Buster the Dog. Also predeceased by her brother James, in 1995; daughter Mary in 1930; sons Donald in 1996, Edmund in 1998; daughter-in-law Cathie Oughton in 1975. Fondly remembered by her surviving family; sons John, Robert (Lorraine Lynch), Ernest; daughter Elizabeth (Tom Charlton) daughter-in-law Audrey MacKinnon (nee Butt) 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Mil was active in the community - Catholic Women's League, Liberal Party, Judy La Marsh Club, Kiwanis and Osteoporosis Society. Mil woke every day happy to be alive, loved the wind in her hair and daffodils. Mom - you will be truly missed. Thank you to Home Care, Classic Care and the Palliative Care Nurses. In lieu of flowers donations to the Osteoporosis Society would be appreciated. A memorial service was held on April 11, 2003 at the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 14615 - 16 Ave., White Rock. Interment followed at the Gardens of Gethsemani Cemetery, Surrey.
