CHURCH, Mollie, 89, passed away peacefully at Peace Arch Hospital on March 18. She was born in Cannington Manor, Saskatchewan, the oldest child of Ed and Doris Maher. When her parents moved to White Rock in the 1940's Mollie wasn't far behind. In 1947 she married Jack Church a Navy sailor she met before leaving Saskatchewan. Together with their daughter they spent 20 years in California before returning to this area to be closer to their families. Mollie worked in banking for most of her working years which may explain why her business affairs are perfectly in order. With her mild temperament, loud laugh and sassy sense of humour Mollie maintained many connections. She played bridge with a passion, volunteered with the Peace Arch Auxiliary, the Stroke Club, the Osteoporosis group, CWL, ran her condo association for many years and stayed in regular touch with her banking friends. She always worked efficiently, without fanfare and got the job done. Mollie was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by her daughter Marcia and son-in-law Dale Swanson, granddaughters Shayla (Matt Parks) and Rayna (Connor Donnelly), brother Bill Maher, niece Cheri Sutherland, nephew Alex Lagasse, brother-in-law Larry Church, as well as cousins Nora Zelter, Barb and Brian Haynen, Madge and Albert Cantin, Elaine Jensen and many other loving relatives and friends. A heartfelt thank you to the kind and capable nursing staff at the Peace Arch Hospital and Morgan Place. Also, thank you to family and friends for the very attentive support during all of Mollie's trials and tribulations. Unfortunately, we missed the Peace Arch News deadline to announce the funeral. It was held on Friday, March 22 at the Star of the Sea Catholic Church in White Rock.
