Mona HARDY

HARDY: Mona Beryl - Mona was born in Battleford, Saskatchewan on February 29, 1916. The family lived on a farm at Gallivan, until moving to Vancouver in 1924, where she grew up, attending Douglas Elementary School and John Oliver High School. Her parents owned and operated a grocery store at 54th and Victoria Road and later Mona also carried on that business. After High School, Mona worked for many years as secretary and accountant at Creamland Dairy, and assistant manager at various specialty and ice cream outlets and lunch counters in Vancouver. She also operated the restaurant in Barkerville Historic Town. Mona moved to Crescent Beach in 1961 and was active in community affairs. She is predeceased by her parents Grace and Cyril Hardy and brother, Clifford, and fiance Tom Garner. She is survived by sister Lorna Robb, nephew Brian Hardy and great nephews Christopher and Jeffrey Hardy and many loving friends. They will remember her cheery personality, kind nature and love of her dogs and all animals and nature of which she was a sincere supporter. She was a founding member of Dunsmuir Community Gardens in Crescent Beach. A memorial service will be held at Victory Funeral Centre, 14831-28th Ave. Surrey on Saturday May 21st, 2005 at 2:00 pm.
