HYSLOP, Murray Carslaw

RCAF, DFC

June 3, 1920 - August 19, 2009

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of the best father a daughter could have, and a real hero. Son of Samuel and Mary (Faulder) Hyslop, pre-deceased by his wife, Irene Beatrice (Bowden) of 42 years, brother Don and brother-in-law Maurice. Murray is survived by his daughter Leslie (Gerry) Leadbetter, brother Richard (Grace), grandchildren, Virginia, Brandy (Carl) Cartright, great grandchildren Cassie, Alyssa Leadbetter and Jordan Cartright. Also survived by sisters-in-law, Lillian and Ethel; several cousins, many nieces and nephews, great nephews and nieces. Murray had a distinguished military career and enjoyed a second career in engineering with BC Hydro. He had a long and enjoyable life and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Murray had exceptional morals and was known as a fine gentleman by all. Special thanks for the help and friendship of Helen Holditch and Sherrie Dick in making my dad's last days more enjoyable; and to the nursing staff and doctors of the palliative wing of Peace Arch Hospital, notably Maureen, Lorraine and Rosemary. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday August 27, 2009 at 11am at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre.
