Huntington Disease stole the brilliant mind and active body of a humble, kind, gentle man. Paul was a son, brother, uncle, husband, father and friend. He leaves behind his wife Jane, son David, mother Juanita (Nita), sisters Linda, Leslie (Cam), Dana (Gus) and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father David (DJ) Manning and younger sister Laurie. Paul was born at St. Paul's Hospital and raised in Vancouver.
Paul's gentle manner forged numerous lifelong friendships while attending University Hill, Shawnigan Lake School and UBC. He followed in his father's footsteps and became a civil engineer and contractor. His son, David, recently identified locations on a huge map where Manning Construction, Western Versatile and Westpark Electric built projects. David can attest that his Grandpa and father built A LOT of bridges, tunnels, snow sheds and private hydroelectric projects throughout BC and Alberta.
Paul was generous too! He supported the arts, education, the Tong Louie Family YMCA, healthcare and most recently Huntington Disease. His generosity was selfless! It was for the betterment of all.
Paul had two passions in life; fishing at Hakai Land and Sea Fishing Club and skiing the slopes of Whistler. Recognizing his diminishing ability to enjoy his passions along with so many other things we all take for granted, Paul chose to leave this world on his terms with MAID. His family wish him tight lines and powder snow!
Paul's Celebration of Life Service will be held at The Royal Vancouver Yacht Club on Saturday, January 11th at 3 pm to 6pm.
Flowers gratefully declined. Should you wish, donations may be made to The Manning Family and Beckman Family U.B.C. Huntington Fellowship, care of The Huntington Society of Canada www.huntingtonsociety.ca or 1-800-998-7398.
