Percival Walter PARKS

October 1, 2007

PARKS: Percival Walter passed peacefully at Evergreen Care Home, White Rock on October 1, 2007. Mr. Parks was born on November 17, 1914 in "Killien House", Co. Louth, Ireland, a member of a very long established and highly respected Cooley family. Percy was the last remaining of six children of the late Robert Parks and Dora (Armstrong) Parks.

Percy moved to West Kirby, Cheshire, England in 1939. With his cherished wife Mina he came to Canada in 1963. Together, they made a home in Toronto, Ontario and later near Vancouver, BC. Wherever he settled, Percy became a well known individual to those who lived near him, thanks to his affability and eagerness to help others. His was a mirthful spirit with a deft ability to raise the spirits around him. Those close to him were charmed by his easy laughter and readiness with a song or a story.

He was a devoted husband and father -the way he lived his life serves as an inspiration to his descendants. His gentleness and compassion will forever guide us in our own lives.

Percy, known as Grandad to three generations will be greatly missed by his surviving daughters, (Phyllis) Laura Baur and Joan Francisco, five grandchildren Mandy (Dave), Suzanne and Mark, Corinna (Richard), and Natalie (Rob), plus six great grandchildren Braden and Heidi, Emily and Gillian, Shannon, and Kade. Our heartfelt thanks go to the Doctors Philip and Mairi Narod for their care over thirteen years, to Doctor Larry Darby over the past seven years, and to the staff on D2 at Evergreen Care Home for their kindness and compassion over the past year. Following cremation, a Memorial Service will be held on Friday October 5, 2007 at 3 p.m. at the Anglican Church of the Holy Trinity in White Rock, Reverend Neil Gray officiating, interment will be in the Memorial Gardens at Holy Trinity beside his beloved wife, Mina.
