MILLBANK - Peter

January 18, 1928 to August 10, 2007

Peter passed away peacefully at Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock (Vancouver) on Friday, August 10th at the age of 79 after a gallant fight with cancer over a few years. He will be fondly and lovingly remembered and missed by his family, many friends and acquaintances.

Born in Montreal, Peter faced and overcame many challenges during his life and responded with courage and optimism. He was a kind, polite, loving, generous and gentle man who was also enjoyably opinionated and independent. He was extremely proud of his service with the Canadian Army during WWII (14th Light Field Artillery - 27th Battery - 5th Batallion) and spent the first 40 years of his life in Montreal.

In Montreal, Peter met and married the true 'love of his life', Muriel. They moved to Vancouver in 1969 and lived in several municipalities throughout the Lower Mainland before settling in Surrey in the early 1970's. Muriel passed away in 1991.

Peter was the youngest of 10 siblings, the children of Edwin and Dora Millbank. He was pre-deceased by his brothers Frank, Jack (Dot), Phil (Gert), Jim (Charlotte) and Dave (June) - and by his sister Marjorie Graham (Joe) and his dear wife Muriel. Peter is survived by his sisters Freda Holdam (Wilf) in Victoria, Edna Hutcheson (Jim) in Montreal and Joyce Laird (Howard) in Montreal - and by his many nephews, nieces and cousins. He will be especially missed by his nephew and friend Neal.

A funeral mass will be dedicated to Peter's memory on Monday, August 20th at 9:00 am at Star of the Sea Church, 1153 Fir Street, White Rock, B.C. Interment with Royal Canadian Legion support and honours will follow (shortly after 10:00 am) at Victory Memorial Park, 2977 King George Highway, Surrey.
