Aug 9, 1935 - Nov 22, 2017
"Pat" as she was known to her west coast friends, or "Paddy" to her Calgary family and friends, died peacefully on November 22, 2017. Until the very end, Mom inspired us with the same deep faith, strength, grace and exceptional love and compassion for others that she'd blessed us with her whole life.

Gord, Pat's loving husband of 50 years, always referred to mom as his "beautiful bride". Gord passed away in 2005 and the family are comforted knowing that Mom and Dad are together again.

Mom was also pre-deceased by her sister Gwen, her brother Grant and sister-in-law Verna.

Pat will always be lovingly remembered by her children Cam (Denise), Tara (Martin) and Michele; and grandchildren Curtis (Brittany, and great-grandchildren Addison & Charlie), Evan (Sara), Kyle (Jaime), Adrienne, Warren, and Paul.

Mom also felt blessed by her extended family and dear friends and neighbours who were always so important to her.

Mom was born August 9, 1935 to Victor and Myrtle Ellis and grew up on a farm near Chestermere Lake, Alberta where she developed her passion for horses, dogs, cats and other animals. Her love of animals continued her whole life and dogs were always an important part of the family.

After marrying Gord at the age of 20 and supporting his 41 year career as an Air Canada pilot, Mom became an expert at moving between cities and quickly making each new house a loving and welcoming 'home' with all her special touches. Mom was also an excellent cook and somehow always managed to welcome any number of family or friends, often on short notice. The memories of delicious meals and family celebrations, shared around a table filled will love and laughter, are boundless.

Over the years she also enjoyed playing tennis, badminton and bridge with a special circle of friends. Mom was a truly beautiful person inside and out. She was a long time active member of Crescent United Church and a volunteer at Peace Arch Hospital. For many years, Mom provided unwavering care for her husband and her sister while she bravely dealt with her own illness (mesothelioma).

Until her final days, her smile radiated warmth that was felt by anyone in her presence. Everyone who knew and loved her will carry a piece of her beautiful soul forever.

Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Simpson, Dr. Niemand and the staff at both White Rock Home Care and Irene Thomas Hospice. A very special thank you to Tushani and Renuka who provided such loving care at home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Covenant House or World Vision.

A service to celebrate Pat will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, December 9 at Peninsula (Crescent) United Church, 2756 127th Street, Surrey, B.C.
