Rae Isabel WIEBE (nee McEWEN) was born in Sudbury, Ontario where she met and married her husband, John, in 1962. She had 2 children, Andrew and Shelley, who were born in Sudbury as well. This was followed by a brief stint in North Bay and then to Ottawa, Ontario. Rae always loved the mountains and the ocean and when John retired in 1986, she got her wish with a move to Vancouver.
Rae was pre-deceased by her parents, her brother and her sister. She will be deeply missed and is mourned by her husband John , her son Andrew(Joanne), daughter Shelley, grandchildren Amanda, Allison and Ashleigh. She also leaves her daughter-in-law Cathy as well as numerous friends and distant relatives.
Rae started her career in the banking business and following a lengthy hiatus to raise her children, she returned to her banking career. Rae loved sports, reading and as her many friends well know, she really loved to travel. She was always exploring the travel section of the newspaper to see where else she could get to.
Rae was diagnosed with cancer in Aug. 2017 and while she fought this with all her heart, the cancer won out. She passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve in the Hospice Unit at the Peace Arch Hospital. A special thanks to her family practitioner, Dr. E. Baasch and to Dr. Andrew Collins and staff at the Hospice Unit for the wonderful care Rae received which made her final days so much more manageable.
Cremation is to follow but there will be no service which was her request.
