Raymond Roch passed away peacefully at Peace Arch Hospital on January 29, 2020. Ray was born in Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba, and moved to Youbou, BC in 1947. He is predeceased by his parents Dominique and Angelique Roch and his siblings Jeanne, Rene, Albert and Cecile. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife and partner of 72 years, Angela; his children: Raymond (Frances), Guy (Brigitte), and Warren (Marie); 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Ray moved to Youbou to pursue greater employment opportunities in the BC Forest Industry. He worked for BC Forest Products (BCFP) for 40 years as a Millwright and then Maintenance Superintendent. From Youbou, he moved to Hope in 1975 and then to White Rock in 1985, where he retired in 1986.
In retirement, Ray and Angie enjoyed their RV, and became snowbirds during the winter. He loved golfing, woodworking, and spending time with his family. Ray and Angie loved to garden and became two of Surrey's first "Parks Champions", turning their surrounding area into a wonderful neighbourhood park.
Ray was a devoted Catholic and worked diligently as a Knight of Columbus. He spent many years on behalf of the Church as a volunteer for a variety of projects, including collecting donations for an overseas charity and organizing fundraisers for the Knights.
The family wishes to express its sincere gratitude to the caregivers from Fraser Health as well as to Peace Arch Hospice. In lieu of flowers, please consider a charity of your choice with preference to an organization that focuses on dementia research.
A Celebration of Life for Ray will be held at Good Shepherd Church in White Rock on Friday, February 14, 2020 at 11 am. After the service there will be a reception at the Church Hall at 12 pm. Prayers will take place on Thursday, February 13 at 7:00 pm at Good Shepherd Church.
