Passed away peacefully in Surrey Memorial Hospital on October 24, 2002 with his beloved wife by his side.
Predeceased by daughter Carol, who went to be with the Lord in her infancy. Ernest is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy; his children Richard (Grace), Susan, Beth (Richard) Couture; 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; sister Alma Carpenter and many other family members.
Pastor Bittner, in over 40 years of ministry, served parishes in White Rock, B.C., and in Saskatchewan, Regina, Lumsden, Francis, Lang, Yellow Grass, Bethune and Frankslake. He also served as a social worker with Ranch Ehrlo in Regina.
Funeral service was held at Zion Lutheran Church, Cloverdale, on Tuesday, October 29, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kidney Foundation or the Canadian Lutheran World Relief would be appreciated.
