December 16, 1943 - January 5, 2022
Following a lengthy illness, Richard passed away peacefully, shortly after visiting with his family. We'd like to thank the kind and compassionate staff at Irene Thomas Hospice. Rick was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba where he worked at Dominion Bridge. In 1975, after their daughter Stacy was born, he married Hendrika (Henny) and adopted her two sons (Daniel and Lee) as his own, before relocating his family to White Rock, B.C. in 1979. Henny's eldest daughter Toby visited often throughout the years.
Rick then joined forces managing United Iron Works Ltd until his retirement. He enjoyed coaching his sons' hockey, daughter's softball and many pro athletes from the couch on Sundays!
He was predeceased by his sister, wife and eldest son.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his three children (Toby, Lee and Stacy), two daughter in laws, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He will be missed dearly by his extended family and friends; many of whom visited and sent comforting messages of love and admiration.
Forever remembered for his sarcastic wit, integrity, gentle demeanor and the legacy he left behind.
