RICHARD GEORGE BERRY

November 1, 1929 – February 22, 2009

Dick passed away peacefully in Peace Arch Hospital, White Rock, BC after a long battle with cancer. Dick never complained about the pain and indignities he endured battling this unforgiving disease. Instead, Dick chose to spend time with family and friends and at the trailer in Birch Bay, WA puttering around and golfing. Dick had his third career hole-in-one last July for which he was very proud. Dick spent many years as an executive with Shelly Brothers (OK Economy Stores) in Saskatoon, SK and with H. Y. Louis (IGA Stores) in Burnaby, BC. In semi-retirement Dick sold recreational vehicles until he became sick. He truly loved interacting with the people.

Dick is predeceased by his son, Kevin, father George, mother Ann, and sister Marjorie. Dick is survived by his wife, Carol, daughters JoAnn (Don) Parksville BC, Sandra (Derrick), Deep Cove BC, step-daughter Pamela (Larry) White Rock BC, step-son Al, White Rock BC, brothers Ron (Bev) Saskatoon SK, Reg (Glenys), Victoria BC, grandchildren Conner, Cole, Krystal and Nicholas, brother-in-law Jules Cudworth, SK, former wife, Joyce Vancouver, BC and many nephews, nieces and friends.

Special thanks to Dr. Charles King, Dr. Jeremy Scott and the nurses and staff on the palliative care floor, Peach Arch Hospital. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice. An open house in honour of Dick will be held on March 21st, 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM at 18138-19A Avenue, Surrey, BC (near Redwood Park). Internment will take place this summer in the family plot, Saskatoon, SK.
