Our beloved Richard passed away unexpectedly on May 1st, 2022 from heart complications, leaving family and friends deeply saddened.
Richard spent his entire career in the produce industry, an industry he was very passionate about. He spent his early working years at Swartz Bros, then Woodward's Stores as the senior produce buyer. In April of 1997, he had a vision and drive to open his own company - RGR Produce Sales Inc. From this day on he was nicknamed "The Lettuce King"! This company he was so proud of enabled him to support and promote local farmers large and small, an endeavour that was close to his heart. Richard's tireless work at RGR Produce earned him respect and admiration throughout the industry. His leadership and dedication to his work were unparalleled and resonate within the industry even today.
Richard was an endlessly thoughtful and generous man. Richard had many passions in life, which he enjoyed golf, made first class wine, savored Scotch "Meetings" with his buddies, and had an active social life. Ruth and Richard's home was a social hub for their many family and friends - they were always delighted to have an opportunity to cook and entertain together, and they spent many nights laughing on the patio with cherished companions.
Richard was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Dorie Palombi. Richard is mourned by so many he is leaving behind. His wife, Ruth "Bugs" will forever mourn her wonderful, loving and caring husband. Richard's memory will be treasured by his brother Robert, as well as his two daughters, who he was very proud of - Erica Jeroski (Mike) and Kara Wickstom (Sean). "Grandpa-Doodles" will be forever remembered and loved by his three amazing and adored grandchildren, Carli, Garin, and Nathan. The depth of Richard's family's grief is only surpassed by the love he had for them.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Wednesday, June 8th, 2022 at 1:00pm to honour his well-lived life that ended far too soon. Please join us at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre - 14831 28th Ave, Surrey, BC.
