July 2, 1938 - September 28, 2022
We are sad to announce that Bob (Robert) Harris died on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, but we are incredibly grateful to have known this brave, optimistic, and beloved man. Bob touched many with his quick wit, smile and quirky sense of humour. Born in Montreal on July 2, 1938, he grew up with the 'gang' - brothers Tom, Jim and sister Dorothy.
As soon as he could, he joined the Canadian Air Force and was stationed in Germany, where he met his loving wife of 56 years, Inge. They would again spend ten years overseas in his second career as an engineer with Lafarge.
With a shared taste for adventure, Bob and Inge travelled the world together, living in Germany, Montreal, and Canmore and ultimately settling in Ocean Park.
Bob loved spending quality time with his family, seeking out every opportunity to rent a vacation home where he connected with his daughters (Andrea, Sabine), sons-in-law (John Irvine, Dale Lussier) and granddaughters (Brydon, Solah).
So many nieces and nephews will also miss their favourite Uncle. Always curious, he had a range of interests, including sailing adventures, embarking on cycling tours, learning French and German, taking up the saxophone, always trying to improve his golf game and being an avid reader of mysteries and histories.
In honour of Bob, a celebration of life will occur in mid-November. Donations can be made to the Peace Arch Hospital Foundation.
