It is with profound sadness and utter dismay that we announce Grant's passing. What a joy for us to have been blessed with the presence of such a man, one who lived life so fully.
Always athletically gifted and strong, he was a competitive swimmer at SFU and UBC who worked summers as a lifeguard. Grant's love of the sea led to his passion for sailing. He loved all kinds of music, and was a skilled musician in his own right.
His lifework was as an artist with an eye for the elegant line, a talent that manifested itself in a love of design and building projects, including his own beautiful homes.
For over three decades Grant was an Art teacher at White Rock Junior and Semiahmoo Secondary School, where he inspired so many young people and was in turn inspired by them.
An extraordinary human being, he was a wonderful husband and father, a trusted friend, and lest we forget, a punster extraordinaire. He travelled extensively, and maintained a home and a community of friends in Mexico for many seasons.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Lee, as well as sons Jason (Sue), Ryan (Susanne), and Morgan (Shira) as well as granddaughters Lenore and Lucienne. In addition, he is survived by his brother Mike (Tara) in Ontario, and also many others in his extended family.
Although his physical presence is no longer with us, his spark of life endures—with kindness, joie de vivre, and love. Grant was a man who gave to everyone he met—the greatest gift of all, the gift of himself. We miss him and always will.
