Rockley (Rock) Holman

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Rockley on September 10, 2003 at the Peace Arch Hospital.

He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on May 25, 1925, graduated from Gordon Bell High School and the University of Manitoba. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy as a Telegrapher in the North Atlantic. He was employed by Canada Packers for 36 years, transferring from Winnipeg to Moose Jaw and finally Edmonton where he took early retirement. He married Shirley in September 13, 1947 and they have two daughters, Mrs. Leslie Anne McGrath of Penticton and Mrs. Llan (Michael) Obee of Everett, WA, two brothers Dr. Gerald Holman (Audrey) of Amarillo, Texas and Mr. Donald (Linda) Holman of Barrie, Ontario.

A private cremation and service will be held for the immediate family members, as requested.

Besides being a lepidopterist and an avid philatelist he was a dedicated Lion. He held every office on the executive of the St. Albert Lions Club and was elected as District Governor for 37B.

They moved to South Surrey in 1986 and have been very active in the community.

On September 26th from 2:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. a Celebration of Life reception was held for all his friends, especially the Lions and the White Rock Lioness Club, in the Recreation Room at Sunnyside Villas, 2603 - 151 Street. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Pacific Area - Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation or the B.C. Cancer Foundation.
