FINGLER, Ronald James

June 20, 1935 – September 3, 2017.

It is with deep sadness that we

announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Ron is survived by Maureen, his wife of 56 years, and children Colin (Holly), Janice, Ian (Debra), Brian (Hyoun Jong) and Theresa. He will be greatly missed

by his grandchildren Connor, Emma, Patrick, Elizabeth, Jessica, Aiden and Sarah. Also surviving are sisters Wilma

Joss and Jean Bedard, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ron was predeceased by siblings Bernice Cook,

Doris Smith, Harvey and Robert Fingler.

Ron enjoyed a life well-lived that mapped a route from growing up in Waldersee and Selkirk to Winnipeg,

Manitoba, where he and Maureen later raised their family, to recent years of retirement in South Surrey. After

37 years of service with Manitoba Telephone System, Ron and Maureen teamed up to own and operate a

seasonal Dairy Queen. Outside of work, Ron’s passion was building, boating, exploring and socializing with

family and friends on the Lake of the Woods, in Arizona, at Gateway Gardens and the fellowship at Mount Olive

Lutheran Church.

Ron loved a good joke and had his own stock of original stories that will we all cherish forever. Our family would

like to extend sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and volunteers at Peace Arch Hospice for their kindness and

compassionate care.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 11:00 am at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 2350 – 148th Street, Surrey, Pastor Peter Hanson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ron may be made to the Surrey Urban Mission Society (SUMS), 10776 King

George Blvd, Surrey, BC, V3T 2X7. Messages of condolence may be placed at: www.victoryfuneralcentre.ca
