June 2, 2023
It is with sadness and much love, that the family announces the passing of Rose Jacob (formerly Aleksic) in White Rock, BC, on June 2, 2023, at age 86.
Rose was predeceased by George 9 years ago, after almost 60 years of marriage.
Rose will be lovingly remembered by her children Irene (Mike Mannella) and John (Susy Bellisario), grandchildren Adam, Emily, Rachel, and Kate, sister Stephanie Frost, niece and nephew Wendy and Richard Frost, and countless other family and friends.
Born in Ribnik, Croatia, she lost her mother at the age of 6 during the Second World War, emigrated to Canada in 1952, was married and had her first child in Beardmore, Ontario, before moving to Thunder Bay, Ontario in 1959.
In 1973, Rose and her husband George purchased the Holiday Inn Motel in Thunder Bay, which they ran very successfully together for many years, as they were both natural entrepreneurs with an amazing work ethic with deep rooted values. They also enjoyed travelling around North America in their camper van and later retired in White Rock, BC in 1999.
Rose was a very dignified woman, who loved her family and friends above all, especially her grandchildren. She possessed an amazing memory for detail and believed there was a right and a wrong way to do everything.
Rose had a terrific sense of humour and was a caring people person who made friends easily and genuinely enjoyed socializing with strangers and friends alike. She was always kind, sensitive and thoughtful to everyone she met.
Rose enjoyed music, knitting, and was a champion bowler. She really loved being near lakes or oceans, where she would spend hours walking along the shore. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her and by those whose lives she touched along the way.
She now walks a beautiful, endless shore.
