June 12, 1913 - February 6, 2021
With loving hearts we say our goodbyes to Rose, who passed away peacefully on February 6, 2021 in White Rock, BC, at the age of 107.
Rose was born June 12, 1913 in Blaine Lake, SK. In 1938, after years growing up and working in Saskatchewan, she took a train to Noranda, Quebec to marry her husband, Frank, and start a family. After 10 years they moved to the West Coast where they settled permanently.
Memories of Rose are cherished by loving friends and family, including her children, Joyce (Basil) Mykytiuk, Thousand Oaks, CA, Don Shymanski, White Rock, and Leanne Anderson, Calgary; 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
We have wonderful recollections of time spent together in Burnaby, Coquitlam, Langley and White Rock and during her many visits to see us in California, Calgary and in the Queen Charlotte Islands (Haida Gwaii).
Rose's creativity shone brightly through her talents of sewing, baking, cooking, knitting, crocheting, gardening, painting, and pottery. Her grandchildren insist she made the best-ever perogies and donuts. She was remarkably young for her age, enjoying her daily walks, learning to use e-mail, and proving herself as a formidable Scrabble opponent well into her late 90s.
Rose had an appreciation of the simple things, which she approached with a subtle sense of fun and humour. In recent years, she would watch and assign names to the resident squirrels playing outside her window at Sunnyside Manor.
Rose's family would like to thank all of her caregivers since she moved to Evergreen Long-Term Care (Wisteria Unit) in March 2019. And finally, a huge thank-you to Rose's wonderful friend, Eddi, whose weekly visits and friendship over the past 15 years were enjoyed immensely.
Rose joins loved ones who left before her; Frank, her husband of 46 years, her daughter, Margaret, sisters, Helen, Sandra, Marie and Anne, and niece Nora
