Clark, Ruth

Ruth Clark, of Emerald Gardens, Grande Prairie, died peacefully in her sleep on June 1, 2008 at the age of 92.

Predeceased by her devoted husband Dr. Robert David Clark in 2001, her brother Mickey, and her sister Betty Kalina, she is survived by brothers Kenneth, Sam (Gwen), and Keith (Jean) and a large extended family. As well, she leaves to honour her life her children Tom (Mary Ellen), Allison Taylor McBryde, and Janet (Colin); grandchildren Jennifer Dwyer (Jerry), David (Bonnie), John, Morgan Haupt Harwood (Philip), and Rowan; and great -grandchildren Colsten, Jacksyn, Alexander, Aiden, and Addison.

On January 26, 1916, Ruth was born at home on the family farm near Walpole, Saskatchewan, the second child of Thomas Appleby Clark and Janet Susan Taylor. She had a long and respected career as an elementary teacher, a pianist, and a teacher librarian in Lethbridge, Alberta. Ruth and David retired to White Rock, B.C. and there enjoyed travel, family, and friends for over twenty years. Ruth will be remembered as an avid bridge, symphony, ballet and opera fan and avid rose gardener.

Her ashes will be placed beside David's on July 13th, in the family plot in south-east Saskatchewan. All of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be in attendance to see her rest beside her beloved husband of over sixty years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or a charity of choice.
