HARDING - Ruth Martin (nee Wright)

Ruth died peacefully at Laurel Place, Surrey, October 21, 2009. Born in 1922, Ruth was born and grew up in Nelson B.C. where her father worked on one of the early paddlewheel ferries on Kootenay Lake. During the Second World War Ruth moved to Calgary where she attended Business College, making lifetime friends living at the YWCA. She graduated from Canadian Memorial College in Toronto as a Doctor of Chiropractic in 1960 and worked in private practice in Mission and Surrey. Ruth married Robert Harding in 1980 and in their retirement they moved to Cranley Place, South Surrey. Ruth was predeceased by her husband Robert, her sister Pauline and her parents Bill and Dolly Wright. She is survived by her stepsons Tim (Penny) of William's Lake and Brian (Lorraine) of Westbank; her grandchildren, Jami, Nancy (Tony), and Wendy (Derek), Jane (Trevor) and Ann; her great grandchildren Keegan, Adam and Emma. By her cousins Alice Williams of White Rock, Hildy Martin of Victoria, Freda Barrett of Oxford, England, James and Martha Wright of North Vancouver, Joan Calder of Brisbane, Australia and Raymond and Doreen and Wilfred and Carrie of Shaunavon, Saskatchewan and her childhood friends Muriel Griffiths of Trail and Lois Arnesen of Nelson. Special thank you to Ruth's friends and neighbours at Cranley Place for their support and friendship.

A memorial service will be held November 5, 1-3 pm at Cranley Place,

2141 Cranley Drive, Surrey. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
