McFadyen-Jones, Silvia Ingeborg

December 6, 1923 - December 29, 2014

Silvia passed from this world peacefully at Peace Arch Hospital, White Rock, BC December 29, 2014, at the age of 91. Predeceased by husbands Robert A. McFadyen and Edward D. Jones, sister Senta and mother Anna, survived by son Bruce. Silvia was born in Valga, Estonia in 1923 and endured the invasion of her country by both Nazi and Soviet forces, eventually immigrating to Canada in 1950, and moving to Vancouver in 1955. Working in the Early Childhood Education field, Silvia advanced her experience to eventually teach at several Vancouver region colleges, finally retiring to White Rock, BC from Kwantlen College in 1988. Silvia travelled extensively in retirement, enjoying the benefits of a life both of challenge and reward. Her final decline following her 91st birthday fulfilled her often stated intent not to live beyond 90. Silvia's last home was in Peace Arch Hospital, where the dedicated, professional and caring staff of Weatherby Pavilion provided a secure, comfortable refuge in her final days. Our heartfelt gratitude go out to them all. No service will be held, by request. Donations would be appreciated to Silvia's favourite organization: Medicins Sans Frontieres.
