SIMON LARSEN

September 13, 1934 - July 7, 2008

It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Simon Larsen in Peace Arch Hospital on July 7, 2008. Born September 13, 1934 in Bronderslev, Denmark, Simon immigrated to Canada in 1953 where in 1964 he married the love of his life, Lone (Nielsen). In 1978 they moved to South Surrey.

Simon's priority was always his wife, his children and their families. He embraced his two sons-in-law as his own. He was a wonderful Papa to his grandchildren, active in their lives, so proud of each of them and they brought him the utmost joy.

Simon enjoyed life and the people around him. Simon was hard working, sensitive, forgiving, compassionate, mischievous, with a wonderful sense of humour, and always up for a debate. His passing has left a huge hole in our hearts but he has given us so many wonderful memories and for that we are eternally grateful.

Predeceased by his parents, Magnus and Rosa, and his sister Ingrid. Simon will be dearly missed by his loving wife Lone (nee Nielsen); Marianne (Brad) Riffal, their children Garrett and Jenna; Vicky (Murray) Grant, their children Nina and Dania; Kevin and his daughter, Skye as well as all his 2 brothers, 6 sisters, 8 brothers-in-law and 4 sisters-in-law and 31 nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Peace Arch Hospital, in particular Drs. Francoeur, Gibbings, E. Chang, Rudnick, and John & Kent in the ICU.

Memorial service to be held Thursday, July 17 at 2:00pm at Granley Danish Lutheran Church, 9243, 152 Street, Surrey with reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the B.C. Cancer Foundation (Research) would be appreciated.
