May 20, 1927 - Jan 2, 2018
Sylva Carola Sandberg (nee Bleiler) passed in Clayton Heights care home Jan 2, 8:37 p.m.

Mom passed yesterday after a challenging struggle with pneumonia. She was strong and resilient to the end. Gratefully she found peace from the many loving phone calls she received in her final hours.

The greatest gift in the world are grandchildren she once told me, and I agree. She leaves behind her many loving beings. Ruby 6, her youngest great granddaughter, of her eldest granddaughter Soleil and Ian Tosczak , Jada 17 and Jackson 13 her great grandchildren of Rob her eldest grandson, son of her eldest daughter Lenore and Fraser Lee.

They called her Gigi. Sarah and Sean, her two loving grandchildren of Judy Kaye McLeod, her middle daughter. Jacy and Britany Lawrence, and Soleil Tosczak of her youngest daughter Dale LaVerne. They called her Gramma.

Youngest brother Ralph and wonderful wife Anne Sandberg, their family. Brother Don Sandberg and loving wife Frieda. They called her Syl. Nieces and Nephews to whom she was Auntie Syl. Lenore and Judy Kaye and Dale, her three daughters of whom she was exceedingly proud, will miss her terribly.

Mom's life was filled with many experiences, countless challenges, some disappointments and many triumphs, the latter she will be remembered for by all.

She was an avid world traveller, with trips to exotic lands and places from Easter and Galapagos islands, Australia, New Zealand, England, Sweden, India, Japan, Peru, Mexico, Hawaii, China and stops in between.

Syl was a beautiful person all her life, at every stage in her life. An elegant and vivaciously stunning woman, her heart was always for her family. The world is a better place because of our mother passing through it for so many reasons.

May she find a gentle place to settle, a soft breeze to enjoy and a final resting place that will wrap her up in all the love that she inspired.
