October 29, 1934 - March 5, 2020
The Rev. David Charles Fearon, firstborn son of Geoffrey and Eileen, on October 29, 1934 in London, England, sinner, born again January 15, 1949, passed into the presence of Jesus Christ, his Lord and Saviour, on March 5, 2020.
Immigrating to Canada in October 1951, David worked in Toronto as an underwriter in the general insurance industry. He met Vivian, younger daughter of the Rev. Dr. and Mrs. Robert Watt, who was then the pastor of the church David attended. They were married in 1954. Two sons, Blair Charles and David Bruce were soon added to the family. Conscious of God's calling to ministry, in 1958 David entered Canadian Bible College in Regina, SK, to train as a missionary or pastor, while Vivian worked as a Registered Nurse. Graduating in 1963 with a bachelor's degree, David and Vivian commenced their pastoral ministry under The Christian & Missionary Alliance in Waterdown, ON, where a third son, Brent Robert Geoffrey, soon arrived.
David was ordained to the Ministry of the Gospel in 1965, and in 1967 pastoral ministry continued in Cobourg, ON. In 1972 David made a career shift, taking over management of a fledgling Christian bookstore in Kingston, ON. After learning the retail trade, David and Vivian became the owners of the store, known as Logos Bookstore. The business flourished under their management, providing income for them and others. There they made many friends, staying for 26 years until they sold the business-ministry and later moved to South Surrey, BC, in retirement. David never stopped being a pastor, teaching and preaching in the churches he attended, both in the east and the west.
David was predeceased by his wife, Charlotte Marie Vivian of 61 years in July, 2015. He is survived by his three sons and their wives: Blair and Kate, Bruce and Fiona, and Brent and Terry; also former daughter-in-law Karen. He is sadly missed by his grandsons and their wives: Jason and Courtney, Ryan and Kayla, Geoffrey and Dena, Nigel and Melanie, and granddaughters Marissa Gorrie (and husband Jim), Emily, Esther, and Emma; also the children of Fiona, Harry and Mandy. Also left are ten great-grandchildren: Sophie, Levi, Elliott, Madison, Jacob, Luca, Gibson, Rowan, Casper, and Maisy. David is also survived by his sister Alison and her husband Peter, and was predeceased by his brother Christopher and sister Louisa.
