Wilkinson, Thomas William

The Reverend Thomas Wilkinson was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta on March 23rd, 1919 and passed into the presence of the Lord on May 28th, 2007 in the Peace Arch Hospital, White Rock, BC.

Mr. Wilkinson ministered as a pastor with the Evangelical Covenant Church for 40 years. He faithfully served in the following parishes: Erickson, BC (1944-1949); Alpine-Benito, Manitoba (1949-1954); Camrose, Alberta (1954-1959); Prince Albert, Saskatchewan (1959-1961); Fort Frances, Ontario (1961-1974); Big Falls, Minnesota (1966-1974 on circuit); Nelson, BC (1974-1984). He retired in 1984 but continued as a volunteer in the ministry for many years thereafter.

Mr. Wilkinson moved to Surrey, BC in October 1993, where he resided until his death. His wife, Gloria predeceased him in February 1984. He leaves his two sons, Terence (Wanda) of Elmira, Ontario and Donald (Pam) of Winnipeg, Manitoba; one sister Agnes (Lloyd) Jackson of Abbotsford, BC; two nephews, David (Kathy) Jackson and Barry (Giselle) Jackson of Abbotsford, BC and their families; three cousins, Joyce (Leroy) Mickelson of Surrey, BC, Ralph (Ruth) Wilkinson of Ottawa, Ontario and Lenore Foster of Woodstock, Ontario; two grandchildren, Kenneth (Jane) Wickstrom of Dryden, Ontario and Kathy Wilkinson of Fort Frances, Ontario; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held in his honour at the Emmanuel Evangelical Covenant Church, 17029 16th Avenue, Surrey, BC on June 1st, 2007 at 2:00 o'clock, PM. Internment and graveside service will take place at the Nelson Cemetery at 10:00 o'clock AM on June 5th; contact Thompson Funeral Services, Nelson, BC (250-352-3613).
