Todd Jeffrey Hanna

At home, in the arms of his wife and sister, Todd Jeffrey Hanna ended his journey of life August 29th, 2002 in his 46th year.

Survived by his wife Lenore (Gilchrist); son Justin Hanna (mother, Catherine); stepson Ron and mother Freda, brother Chris and sister Laurie Kavanagh (Hanna) and brother-in-law Kevin Kavanagh. Todd is also survived by nieces and nephews Lauren, Caroline, Alexandra, Cameron and Connor. Predeceased by his father John and loving grandparents Oscar and Christine Vanlderstine.

Born in Vancouver on February 9, 1956 to John Desbrisey Hanna and Freda Vanlderstine, youngest brother to Laurie and Chris, Todd was raised in the Greater Vancouver area. Involved in the lifeguarding program for the City of Richmond, the summer swim club, as both competitor and coach, and the Richmond Soccer Association, as competitor and coach. He also coached son Justin's team for the Peace Arch Soccer Club.

Todd graduated from UBC with a BA History in 1978. Earned a law degree from Dalhousie Law School in 1988. He was also involved in federal and provincial politics with Mr. Gordon Gibson and the Hon. Gordon Hogg.

Todd leaves a legacy of courage, humour, wit and intelligence and this shone through in his work advocating for Quality of Life for those living with cancer, most significantly through his public speaking and writing. Todd amazed many with his ability to live a quality life despite dealing with his illness.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2002 at 4:00 p.m. at Peace Portal Alliance Church, 15128 - 28th Avenue, Surrey, B.C.
