GOWLAND, Vera
Vera passed away on November 26th, 2009. She was born in Rochdale Lancashire in England in January 27th, 1931. Predeceased by her parents Eliza (1991) & Walter (1995). Vera emigrated to Canada in 1957 to begin her career in nursing. Her nursing career sent her to Whitehorse in the Yukon to Burns Lake where her parents emigrated to join her. She then moved to White Rock to care for her mother and father. She nursed at Peace Arch Hospital. Vera was very instrumental in running the Peace Arch Day Care. Vera leaves behind her niece Corrine and great nieces Rebecca and Sharon in Germany, as well as cousins in England and Italy. She also says goodbye to her friends Pat Swainson in Whitehorse, and Maureen Harrison and Denny and Linda O'Donovan from White Rock plus many other friends on Vancouver Island and the lower mainland. A Service of remembrance will be held at Victory Memorial @ 14831-28th Ave, Surrey, BC on Tuesday December 8th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Surrey Branch of the SPCA.
