KERCHUK- SILVANOVICZ, Vera; born on November 14, 1905 in Shereshevo, Belarus, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Saturday October 4, 2008 at Weatherby Pavilion at Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock. Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, she was predeceased by first husband Maxim Kerchuk; second husband Walter Silvanovicz; mother Maria Omelaniec; father Stepan Omelaniec; brothers Nick, Steve, Mike; sister Alexandra and great - grandson Michael. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins with their respective children. She will also be sadly missed by her many friends and acquaintances. Survived by daughters Lipa ( Alex) Meroniuk, Katherine Duhrkoop, and granddaughters Sophia Alexandrova Meroniuk, Christine McKenzie Meroniuk and Lori (Wade) Sanders; Great-grandchildren Scott and Stephanie McKenzie, and Lori's daughters Christine Theresa and Renee Chantel (Alex) White and great-great grandson Ari Xavier White also treasured her greatly. Everyone was always welcomed to her home with generous hospitality and a bounteous feast. Her garden was her pride and joy and she was a wonderful seamstress. To say that she was a hard worker was an understatement. She was happy to assist many people as they became established in this country. Above all, she was a devout Russian Orthodox Christian and valued her family members and their accomplishments. The family greatly appreciates the wonderful care given to her in her final years by her doctors Milan Hainc and Sean Petrovic and the caring staff of Weatherby 2 Pavilion. Evening vigil service will be held on Monday, October 13, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. with the Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at the Holy Resurrection Russian Orthodox Church, 75 East 43rd Avenue in Vancouver, Archpriest Michael Fournik will officiate. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Burnaby.
