August 13, 1928 - December 13, 2020
Victoria (Vicky), age 92, passed away peacefully at Evergreen Baptist Care Home in White Rock, B.C. on December 13, 2020. Vicky was born August 13, 1928 in Richmond, B.C.
She was the third youngest of the 13 siblings born to Nicholas and Nellie Evanson. There were a lot of 13s in Vicky's long life! Vicky was predeceased by her parents, her twelve siblings, her first husband Glenn Thompson and her second husband Robert Johnson.
She is survived by her two sons Neil Thompson (Elaine) and Murray Thompson (Bev) and Neil and Elaine's two children Nash and Rae, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Vicky completed Normal School and became a teacher before her twentieth birthday. She taught the primary grades in Port Alberni, Richmond, Vernon, Surrey, and White Rock over her long career. So she touched the lives of hundreds of children, and taught them to read!
Vicky always enjoyed spending time with her many sisters and their families, so there were plenty of family parties when Neil and Murray were growing up. She loved to play Bridge and developed a passion for Line Dancing while living in White Rock.
Vicky was very happy to become a grandmother and spent many Christmases in particular with her grandchildren on Vancouver Island, until she could no longer travel. But the most important thing to her was her devotion to Christianity and to her church, St. John's Presbyterian in White Rock.
It was there that she met her second husband, Bob Johnson. She served as an elder and was very involved in many of the church's activities, until her health no longer permitted her to attend.
Her family would like to send heartfelt thanks to the staff at Evergreen Baptist Care Home who looked after Bob first, and then Vicky for many years.
There will not be a service. If you desire, donations could be made in memory of Vicky to the charity of your choice.
