Our thanks also go out to the staff at Concord Retirement Residence who provided loving care and friendship to Viola.

Viola and Steve met while they were entertaining the troops. A couple of years after Steve's return from the war, Viola and Steve were married in 1948. Viola spent many years at home caring for her family prior to a career with the Province of Manitoba. In their retirement, Viola and Steve loved to travel and spend time with the family that is so important to them. Viola was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church in Winnipeg and was an active member of the Ladies auxiliary there. Viola also was a long-time member of the Order of Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron of Patricia Chapter, Worthy Grand Matron for Manitoba, and held many other offices in the Order throughout the years. Eastern Star and her many loving friends there were very important to her. Viola was also a past president of the Khartum Ladies auxiliary.
