November 24, 1921 - July 30, 2022
Doky was born in Oegstgeest, the Netherlands, the oldest of 8 children. She passed away at the age of 100 in early hours of July 30, 2022. She leaves to mourn her daughter, Sylvia Jansen grandsons Stephen Bradshaw (Sharisse), Alexander & Brian Smith and son, Peter Jansen (Chantha), granddaughter Kelsey (Travis) and great-grandchildren Ilene and Xavier.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews here in B.C. and the Netherlands, along with one sister and brother also in the Netherlands. She married her husband Art in March, 1948 and together with their young daughter immigrated to Canada in 1956 living in various cities in the lower mainland starting out in Richmond, then Burnaby, Coquitlam and finally South Surrey.
Doky was predeceased by her husband, Art, in 1991 and spent the next 30 years in her home in Five Oaks Mobile Home Park. She truly loved life and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved music and dancing, and, for as long as her eyesight allowed, her fingers were always busy crocheting or knitting. She spent the last 2 ½ pandemic years with her daughter in Abbotsford.
There will be a Celebration of Doky's Life sometime in late November 2022.
