Wilfred THOMPSON

October 7, 2012

THOMPSON, Wilfred May 22, 1922 - October 7, 2012. Wilf worked in the shipping industry for Dodwell and Company at Vancouver, BC. He rose to become a very well respected branch manager. He retired at the age of 54, having spent 36 years within the industry. Our dad Wilfred Thompson took his last walk on Friday October 5, 2012. Dad stumbled and fell sustaining a significant blow to the head. Thanks to the White Rock Fire Department and the B.C. Ambulance service crews who treated, reassured and transported Dad to the Peace Arch Hospital. Peacefully with his sons and daughters at his side Dad slipped away on Sunday October 7, 2012 at 10:00 pm. Another thank you to the ICU team at Peace Arch for their help in keeping Dad comfortable throughout the weekend. The attending physician Dr. Martin Lebel was wonderful in his support, compassion and explanations of the injuries sustained. Wilf was born in Vancouver BC May 29, 1922 and celebrated his 90th birthday this past May. Wilf's activities throughout his retirement included winter months in Palm Springs where he was actively involved and known in the shuffleboard community. The spring and summer months were spent in White Rock, BC. He made many friends as an active member of the White Rock Lawn Bowling Club. Wilf will be missed and remembered by his children the five C's, Candis (Laurie), Carol (Barry), Calvin, Colin, Carlene (deceased 1999) as well as his 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren who wish him the very best on his next journey. At his request there will be no formal service. His immediate family plan to rejoin Dad with our mother Mae Thompson at Gibsons, BC.
