CHAPMAN ~ Winnifred Mary

(nee Wilson)

Was born in Vermilion, Alberta on Feb. 28, 1920. She passed away peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Saviour at Worthington Extended Care in Abbotsford on Sunday, May 18, 2008 at the age of 88.

She was predeceased by her son Jonathan in 1968; her loving husband, Frank in 1997; her sisters Bertha (Henry), Evelyn (Ken), Miriam (George); brother Dave (Betty). She will be lovingly remembered by her children Betty (Cesar) Osores; Esther (Paul) Paterson; Sharon (Trevor) Aizzier and Jim Chapman. Her grandchildren, Sarita, Lina, Jonathan, Andrea, Teresa, Sorina, Joe, Scott, Daniel and Katie and 6 great grand- children and her brothers Mervin, Walter (Kay) and Ed.

Winnifred was married to Frank Chapman on Dec. 18, 1946. They were pioneer missionaries with WEC International in the jungles of Equatorial Guinea, West Africa. She used her nurses training to run a medical dispensary and taught Bible classes for women and often accompanied her husband on treks deep into the jungle. She gave birth to her first born in a mud hut with a thatched roof in 1949! Frank and Winnie served God faithfully in Africa until 1968 when they returned to Canada.

Winnie served with Frank at a church in Neilburg, SK and then together represented WEC International out of White Rock, BC until Frank's passing in 1997. Winnie moved to Abbotsford shortly thereafter. Thank you to Worthington staff and Dr. J. Winner for your wonderful care of our dear mother for over ten years.

The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 25th at Central Valley Baptist Church, 33393 Old Yale Rd., Abbotsford, BC.

Graveside Service will be held at 5:30 pm on Sunday, May 25th at Victory Memorial Park Cemetery in South Surrey, BC.
