Tan Lioe Yong) 1925 - 2008 It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Yahja Dirautama (born Tan Lioe Yong) on January 29, 2008. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 60 years, Nan, his five children, Amalia (Peter), Tje (Wei), Ling (Markus), Tom ( Djoen) and Heni, and grandchildren Eric (Cathy), Wendy, Adi, Atma and Yao Mei. He is also survived by his sisters, Noes, Onny, Nelly, Tien and brother Eddy, and many nephews and nieces.

Yahja and Nan raised their family in the island of Java, Indonesia, where they also established a successful leather tannery business. Together, they travelled to many countries of the world before immigrating to Canada in 1982. Throughout his life, Yahja enjoyed many hobbies including raising specialized poultry, tropical fish, and gardens of orchids and flowers.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Peace Arch Hospital, the Fraser Health/ West Coast daily caretakers and the Come Share - White Rock day centre for their wonderful and sincere care.

A time of viewing will be held on Thursday, February 7th from 7-9 pm at the Valley View Funeral Home, 14660 - 72nd Ave, Surrey, 604-596-8866, and funeral mass will be held at the Good Shepherd Church, on Friday, February 8th, at 11 am, 2250 - 150th St, Surrey, 604-531-5739. Yahja will be laid to rest at the Gardens of Gethsemani Catholic cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations to the Peace Arch Hospital or the Parkinson
