Pummy Kaur’s Canada 2011 Census saga – her stalled attempt to obtain a copy of the long form – brings to mind the interesting event that occurred as my wife and I completed the basic form online, basic because we couldn’t locate any routing for the long.

The final instruction was actually a comment box, in which we duly wrote that we thought we should have been given the option of completing the long form.

Seconds – and I mean seconds – after we submitted the comment, up on our screen appeared the first page of the remaining census, the long form, which of course took us an additional few minutes to complete, but which significantly reduced our negative feelings toward Statistics Canada!
